About

I serve as a theology and ethics professor in Nashville, which is a joyful place to be for someone who loves engaging scholarship, church life, and really good music.

For me, there are few things as rewarding as bringing the best of academic exploration and scholarly research into vital conversation with the life and mission of the church.  My research and writing engages politics and the church, economic development and social entrepreneurship, theological method, Wesleyan history and theology, technology and ethics, as well as theology in higher education.

I've also loved serving in pastoral ministry in various capacities, and currently serve on the pastoral team at Trevecca Community Church.

Beyond my work in the academy and the church, I enjoy playing music on the guitar, keyboard and the Hammond B3. Running and biking, aviation, and Chevy Corvettes.  I'm married to Shawna and we are raising two energetic and imaginative kids in Music City.
